So, having had three cats, we are now down to one cat.

Sadly we decided that the two that had some health and behavioral issues that were not compatible with a baby needed a new home. We were trying to work it out with them, but they were not improving.

We surrendered them to a humane society and requested that they be adopted together, and felt sad about it.

We thought it was unfair to these two to keep them, because they weren't getting the attention that they needed and deserved, and all we seemed to be doing was yelling at them.

We are sad, but feel that they will be better off in the long run.

so, we decided, before the baby was born, that there were a few things that we should get done, because they weren't little lung friendly.

We gutted our powder bath on the 1st floor to the studs, ceiling too, except the tile floor (continues into hall and kitchen). It is now re-rocked, primed, painted, with a nice smooth ceiling (no popcorn stuff), a new toilet (higher than standard and can supposedly can flush alot of golf balls at a time, but I don't know why you would waste the golf balls), and has a new smaller vanity, a new sink, and a new light (with a stupid dimmer switch) and a new vent fan, towel bar, tp holder. The mirror is still missing, but everything else works, so I'm okay with it.

In our living room dining room we decided that the nasty berber carpet that we had professionally cleaned at least twice since moving in, and wouldn't come clean, was NOT baby friendly, so we pulled it out, took out the old particle board that was under it out, replaced it with plywood, and a nice hardwood floor (Australian Cypress). It's very nice.

Before we put the floor down, though, we fixed the holes and such in the walls, and painted the ceiling and walls, put the floor down, replaced the outlets and switches.

We have yet to retrieve out rug for the living room, but the love seat and comfy chair are great in there, especially when it's not cold, because we have very old windows that leak, because they weren't insulated correctly.

We got this all done in about a month, and I couldn't do any of the painting. We feel good about it.

Okay, I know I haven't posted in a while, but what do you really want me to say?

In the span of about a month I will go from being a wife to being a wife, mother (December), and aunt (January). Of course I've had (still have) a few months yet to get used to the idea, so it's not all bad, I guess.

Other than that, house is still standing, with a missing door, but that is being fixed, lawn may have stopped dying (from lime that was applied on the recommendation of Gertens) and started to re-green (from the sulfur and water applied on the recommendation of Bachmans). The sod that was put down to cover the ungodly big and weedy gardens (weeds were killed and removed first) is growing better than the rest of the lawn (due in part to the rest of the lawns issues) and we expect it to make the winter. The trees that have been planted are all looking good still. The chipmunks have been having a field day with tunnels and holes this summer, to the point that I have been tempted to try traps or something to get rid of them.

Baby's room has been painted, crib up, cats ignoring everything, but they like to be under the crib every once in a while. So that is good. I've had a baby shower thrown by some family, it was a nice thought, but poor idea to combine it with a family reunion up north, kicking the men out of the house for a while. I didn't think that was cool, but what can I do about it?

Childbirth class -- done. We opted for the two day (one weekend) class, and got a good bit of info, and questions answered.

It's been raining. Nice in a way, because we were inside all weekend, but it's making me sleepy.

Oh, well.

I had an interesting mothers day, spent the day with my husbands parents, his sister and her husband. Part of it involved fishing, but not actually catching anything. Anyway, the morning started off by my husband giving me a soon-to-be mothers day card. Followed later in the day by my sister-in-law also giving me a soon-to-be mothers day card. It was unexpected (well, getting the cards at least).

So, I suppose if you didn't figure it out, I have made my mother say "But I'm too young to be a grandmother!!"

so, for our homeymoon we went to Bayfield Wisconson. It was hot, and Sunday morning, as you may have seen on the news, the straight-line winds came, tore the roof off a church, and downed 100's of trees, not to mention flattening the art fair that was in the park by the lake. Artwork was blown into the lake, along with the artists tents (booths?). Much disaster.

Other than that and the heat, it was a nice time on Lake Superior.
